Transfer of currency through the customs border of the Republic of Belarus

 

The export of foreign currency in cash from the Republic of Belarus by natural persons without special permits and without obligatory declaration in writing is allowed up to the amount not exceeding $3,000 per person, or its equivalent in other foreign currencies according to the official exchange rate of the Belarusian ruble to the corresponding foreign currency at the moment of customs declaration of the exported currency.
Oral declaration remains obligatory.

The export of foreign currency in cash from the Republic of Belarus by natural persons with the obligatory declaration in written form, but without special permits is allowed up to the amount not exceeding $10,000 per person, or equivalent in other foreign currency.
A duplicate of the customs declaration filled out upon entry to the Republic of Belarus or any other member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States (C.I.S.) must be handed over.

If the amount of the exported foreign currency in cash exceeds the established limit of $10,000 per person, special permits are to be submitted to the customs.

The import of foreign cash into the Republic of Belarus by natural persons is not limited provided that other customs formalities are observed.
The declaration may be filled out in 2 copies. Upon completion of customs procedures the duplicate of the declaration may be handed over to the declarant upon his request.

The export of payment documents in foreign currency from the Republic of Belarus and their import into the Republic of Belarus by natural persons are carried out without the limitation of their amount provided that all necessary customs formalities are observed.

The export of Belarusian rubles in cash from the Republic of Belarus by natural persons is allowed in the amount of no more than 100 (one hundred) minimal wages, established in the Republic of Belarus, per person.

The import of Belarusian rubles in cash into the Republic of Belarus by natural persons is allowed in the amount of no more than 100 (one hundred) minimal wages, established in the Republic of Belarus, per person.

 

The import of personal property into the Republic of Belarus

 

Following goods and articles may be brought to Belarus without paying customs duties:

 

Goods and articles (except furniture, vehicles, car bodies and agricultural products that fall under special regulations), not exceeding $1,000 in value per person, with a maximum weight of 50 kg (110 lbs), for personal use only.
NOTE: There is a weight limitation on the luggage that can be brought into the country without paying customs duties. If the weight exceeds 50 kilograms (110 lbs) it is necessary to pay 2 euros for every extra kilogram.

Goods and articles for non-commercial purposes regardless of their customs values, including furniture and one vehicle, imported by a person, who moves into the Republic of Belarus for permanent residence, provided that they are imported onto the customs territory of the Republic of Belarus from the country of the previous residence within six months, beginning with the day of the arrival for permanent residence.

Goods and articles for non-commercial purposes regardless of their customs values, including furniture and one vehicle, which were inherited outside the territory of the Republic of Belarus by the resident of the Republic of Belarus.

Foodstuffs, with a total weight not exceeding 5 kilograms per person.

No more than 1 (one) litre of alcohol beverages per person, that has reached the age of 18.

200 cigarettes or 200 grams of tobacco or other tobacco products per person, that has reached the age of 18.

No more than 5 jewelry items.

No more than 3 natural leather or (and) fur clothes items.

No more than 1 video-recording or video-playing units per person, that costs no more than $1,000.

Imports of personal property (except furniture and vehicles, to which a special procedure is applied), acquired outside the customs territory of the Republic of Belarus from $1,000 to $10,000 in value, are levied by the customs duty of 30% from the customs value.

 

The export of personal property from the Republic of Belarus

 

Except as otherwise stipulated by the legislation of the Republic of Belarus, the following goods and articles are exempt from customs duties when exported from the Republic of Belarus:

 

Goods and articles not exceeding $10,000 in value, for personal use only.

Goods and articles sent by international mail not exceeding $2,000 in value, for personal use only.

Goods and articles for non-commercial purposes regardless their customs value, exported by a person, who leaves the Republic of Belarus for permanent residence in another country. These goods (including vehicles), exported by this person, should be in possession of or in use by this person or by the members of his/her family on the territory of the Republic of Belarus. The right to transfer such goods, which are exempt from customs duties, through the customs border of the Republic of Belarus remains in force within six months, beginning with the day when the person, who exports such goods, leaves the country for permanent residence abroad.

Private property (including vehicles) regardless of their customs values, temporarily exported by the residents of the Republic of Belarus for the period of their stay outside the Republic of Belarus.

Goods and articles, which do not belong by their nature to personal property, not exceeding $1,500 in value, except for the goods, which are exported according to special permissions (licenses), issued by the republican bodies of the state government and other governmental bodies, which are empowered to issue such special permissions (licenses) according to the legislation of the Republic of Belarus.

 

Import/export prohibited

 

The following goods and articles cannot be transferred through the customs border of the Republic of Belarus by natural persons without a special permission:

 

Fire-arms and ammunition of any kind of military patterns, military equipment.

Narcotics, psychotropic, toxic, poisonous, virulent substances, explosives and nuclear materials.

Printed or audio-visual materials deemed injurious to the Republic of Belarus, to its State security or to the health and morality of the people.

Other goods and articles banned by the legislation of the Republic of Belarus.
